If you, like me, try to research a book before reading it you will find loads of intellectual discussions of this book involving mainly sexual politics and roles. Please ignore. Unfortunately I didn't... which delayed me about a year from finally giving the book a try and discovering one of the clear best in the genre.

Why? Simple: Very beleivable alien culture on a planet as vivid and credible as Hal Clement's Mission of Gravity; Excellent plot contstructs involving people who start poles apart, which you as a reader want to see changed; an incredible journey across frozen wasteland more vivid than The Revenant; A gripping, well paced, and fascinating story with no moments of tedium; ....and actually, by definition of the local denizens and their much discussed sexual cycle, a lot less sex than other storires involving us humans, who are by comparrison, constantly on heat.

Can't wait for the second reading.
