I'm not usually interested in angels, but because I liked Bodard's writing in her science fiction, I decided to risk it, and it paid off. The characters were extremely interesting, all of whom I wanted to spend time with. The plot kept ticking at an impressive rate, with lots of things happening throughout. The backstories felt slightly repetitive by the end, but I enjoyed the ideas and the rest of the writing so much that it is forgiven. Looking forward to the next book!
I only wish that the "big bad" had been more established throughout, and didn't feel rushed at the reveal.
