What can I say? I absolutely loved this book. I really went into it with an open mind, this being my first read of it, consiously read it without any preconceived notions. It blew me away, start to finish. It is a rather slight work (the hardcover edition I got from the library clocked in at a mere 274 pages) but Clarke's no-nonsense-style of narrative really impressed me with how rich it was despire being sparse. I loved the way he developed character while at the same time developed story, without either lagging behind. The quick length of the chapters were indicative of the pacing of the book, always moving forward, even throwing in a very human political subplot for good measure. This is considered a classic for a very good reason. It surely stands the test of time.
