An Anthony Burgess novel in the 21st century. Zoo City has a language all its own, but will very little substance to the syntax. The story was good, but with nothing to hold it up. The characters were interesting, but not memorable. You are launched into a world of evil and organized chaos that brings up shades of other evil cities. Zinzi is a character that makes you not really feel sorry for her or pull for her to win. She is just flawed enough to feel sympathy, but empathy is not obtainable. The story bobs and weaves but never really lands any direct hits.
