The Sheep Look Up

Time has inevitably passed this story by. More impressive, though, is how little this has impacted the thrust of the story. it is a world deeply damaged and nearly destroyed by rampant greed and corruption, with only cult-like opposition groups to try and change the inevitable.

For the sake of drama, it makes the powerful nearly all-powerful, and the downtrodden nearly helpless, and we know that this is not the complete picture.

Even dated as it is, it is one of the most powerful indictments of the capitalist system available in SF even today. If you haven't read it, you have missed a fundamental work in SF that has something important to say to this date.
