Dune

This is one I'm long overdue to read, and I'm glad I did, because it's phenomenal. In many ways it reminds me of the Lord of the Rings, a somewhat old-fashioned style of writing that just drops you down into a fantasy world and trusts you to figure everything out for yourself, and I adore that. Dune's universe is well-constructed and believable, the characters are diverse and interesting, and the prose, while old-fashioned, is amazing. Can't recommend it enough. I wasn't planning to read the sequels, but I enjoyed it enough that I might have to look for them.
