An absolutely brutal takedown of human nature. Reading this on 2024, this scenario is all too plausible. Pohl does not flinch in his criticism and while it left me feeling a bit depressed, this is an important work of science fiction satire. Reminds me of what Gaiman said about Terry Pratchett that satire comes form anger. Pohl seemed very angry in this book and the effect is absolutely devastating.
