In his introduction to this entry to the Paperbacks from Hell collection, Will Erickson admires Bernard Taylor's "unhurried buildup" of events. The writing is good, but the twists are predictable. By the time Taylor gets us to the satanic finale, The Reaping was reminding me of made-for-TV movies from the 1980's.
