If you loved THE BOOK OF THE NEW SUN quartet there is a very strong chance that you'll love THE URTH OF THE NEW SUN. Just note that the pacing is different, and for good reasons that you'll learn along the way. There aren't nearly as many asides for philosophizing or short stories within the story. This book is an easier read overall, but don't be deceived, you'll still need to play close attention because Mr. Wolfe drops some bombs veiled as trifling bits of information. While you won't necessarily get answers to all of questions that you have about the series as a whole, you're in for tons of reveals. Many of the reveals were hinted at in the first quartet, and careful readers will be joyfully validated. This novel made me want to go back to the beginning of Severian's journey and actively look for the clues that Mr. Wolfe left for us from a more enlightened perspective.
