Thios is a typical story of the time. The writing is very dated, formal and cliche, with some unfortunate racist and sexist references typical of the era.
All you really need to know is in the synopsis: nearly super-human protagonists, incredible travels and inventions, encounters with another human colony, a battle against supreme evil.
What is surprising is how much it resembles John Campbell's The Black Star Passes. In almost every important plot detail, the stories are very similar.
If you've read the Campbell work and liked it, you are very likely to like this as well. If you haven't read either, this is at least shorter and simpler in plot.
