I have mixed emotions about this novella. It told a story with strong underlying themes of a controlling state in a dystopian world brought about by a killer STD pandemic. Being published in 1988, the AIDS shadow looms large.

Highly exaggerated stereotypical characters! Punk, very campy and over-sexualized, for my taste. If it were not for the plot value, I would say pornographic.

If you like sarcastic punk and don't mind constant sexual content, this book and author are probably in your wheelhouse.

For the stated reasons, I only rated it as three stars.
