At the beginning I was a bit confused about the writing style which imitates Karen's dialect. Then, halfway through the book I couldn't imagine a more relatable voice for the story as it gave the novel an original and personal touch. I could almost hear Karen telling her tale in person. The overall pacing was a bit meandering at times, though the showdown was great und full of action and I would actually love to see it as a movie. The core of the novel were the diverse characters who were immensely likable from the get-go, especially Karen and Miss Lizzie. The main villain was maybe a bit too easily despicable. The setting fascinated too,: A mix of Alternative Wild West and Steampunk. Will definetely read the sequel novella.
