This is my 3rd Heinlein novel (Starship Troopers and Stranger in a Strange Land) and I find him unable to get past his own hubris. This makes the writing feel condescending at its worst and just plain annoying at its best. I know the review is biased for this reason, so be warned.
I am well-read in science fiction and feel disappointed that I am so hard-pressed to find an author that I dislike more (especially since Heinlein is so popularly known and lauded throughout the general sci-fi community for so many decades). I suppose it just supports the old saying, "There is no accounting for taste."
The story involves a revolution of what is essentially a glorified penal colony on the moon against the oppressive Lunar Authority. It is masterminded by a newly developed AI. The Russian narrator's language is choppy and sometimes makes the reading very slow, but aside from that it never engaged me and the execution of an entertaining idea utterly fails.
I forced myself to finish the book to complete a reading challenge, but this is my last foray into Heinlein. 3 strikes and he's out.
