Good but very long. Heavy on politics and angst which made the story drag in places. Characterization, world-building, and dialog are all top-notch though. While I found 40,000 in Gehenna a more absorbing novel, this is a very good next installment.

I have yet to read a Cherryh novel that does not pose challenges to the reader but this one is more dense than most I have experienced. It is, at the end of the day, a rewarding read that delves into some very grey areas within the human condition.

I am headed directly into Regenesis next to finish out the trilogy.
