Synopsis
Refuge from the apocalypse: A young girl survives on a wondrous garbage patch in the middle of the ocean.
This short story originally appeared in the anthology Shine: An Anthology of Optimistic Science-Fiction (2010), edited by Jetse de Vries. It an also b found in the anthology Year's Best SF 16 (2011), edited by David G. Hartwell and Kathryn Cramer.
