Synopsis
Hugo Award nominated novella. It originally appeared in Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, July 1991. The story can aslo be found in the anthologies What Might Have Been? Volume 3: Alternate Wars (1991), edited by Gregory Benford and Martin H.
