Random quote: "Cyberspace. A consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation, by children being taught mathematical concepts... A graphic representation of data abstracted from banks of every computer in the human system. Unthinkable complexity. Lines of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind, clusters and constellations of data. Like city lights, receding... " - William Gibson (Neuromancer) - (Added by: Emil) |

Veteran Posts: 273 Location: behind the 4th wall | Can additional books by Louise Erdrich be added to the database? It is my understanding that her work qualifies as mythic fiction because her books including Native American mythology. Thank you.

It is my understanding that her work qualifies as mythic fiction because her books including Native American mythology. Thank you. Hmm, ISFDB doesn't have much on her. I added one that it does mention as being in a series with the book that won a WFA. The more I look into it, the more unsure I get the books are actually related (other than thematically). I'm having a hard time figuring out what falls within the scope of the site and what doesn't. Going to see if one of the other uberusers has read any of her work before I add more.

Veteran Posts: 273 Location: behind the 4th wall | Thank you, valashain, for adding The Devourers. I just picked it up from the library....I know how I'll be spending my weekend. And thanks for researching Erdrich. Question: how far in advance of publication can books be added to the database? Or do you only honor requests for books already published?

Uber User Posts: 1465 Location: The Netherlands | Question: how far in advance of publication can books be added to the database? Or do you only honor requests for books already published? Some books get added very early but personally I don't add them until about two months prior to the release date. The reason for this is that release dates may get pushed back, cover art may not be final, information of ebook and audio book releases is not always presents and the chances of finding an excerpt are pretty much zero if you add them too early. Also, only a few of our readers have access to advance copies. The majority simply can't read books before they are released. Since we are never short of stuff to add I prefer to work on stuff that is more immediately useful. Unless an other uberuser swings by tonight I will look at the latest batch of requests tomorrow.
