Extreme Veteran Posts: 556 Location: Great Lakes, USA | Here's the thread for the Space Opera 2015 Challenge. This is my favorite type of book, so I'm really looking forward to this challenge!

Uber User Posts: 526 Location: UK | I noticed the lack of space-based challenges last year, too. I nearly ran a mini challenge late in the year, to make up for it, but decided I couldn't fit in the necessary reading. I was going to make the qualifying criterion interstellar travel. My problem space opera is that it doesn't seem to be tremendously well defined. I've already read a book I'm not sure would count (Mil-SF), but I do have some definite qualifiers I want to read this year, so I will probably be in for this one. I'm trying to take some time and not be so trigger-happy on the sign up button this time.

Veteran Posts: 214 | Hey guys, just joined the challenge! I've been working my way through the Honor Harrington books this year and have already read nine of them, and this is my favourite genre, so I am challenging myself to meet your master level since I'm confident I can do the Journeyman level (and the titles rock). I'll start adding my reviews over the next couple of weeks.

Veteran Posts: 214 | Hey there guys; so I am proud of myself; having only started in August and having read the Honor Harrington novels on my list by then (save two, so I think I'd only actually read six, not nine, when I started) I'm now almost done. Though I admit, I've changed my list to include a couple of shorter titles since I am running out of time and am also working on my SF Masterworks Reading Challenge. So are we doing this again next year? I'd sure love to; I love space opera and this was a lot of fun! I've still got a bunch of HH novels to read, along with a few Heinleins and Greg Bears and ER Burroughs . . .

Extreme Veteran Posts: 556 Location: Great Lakes, USA | @Sable Aradia - yes! I will make Space Opera a 2016 challenge. Space Opera is my favorite and I always seem to have tons of it to read. Next year, I plan on giving this one priority so I'm not trying to finish so many books in December.
