This one was a big hit last year so we're going to do it again!  Besides, Tor.com keeps on making shorts fiction available to us for free so there's plenty of new stuff to add to your list this go 'round.

Who's in and who's not nerd enough?

Last year, this was the best challenge I signed up for last year. It was a wonderful way to get a little nibble from so many authors new to me. I'm really looking forward to this challenge again this year.

This year I am trying to be more "scientific" about these stories, I'm going right up the list, skipping only the ones that I would have to buy, I'll go back and read those last. So far "Cold Fires" by Mary Rickert, and "Firstborn" by Brandon Sanderson have been the best stories, but I've barely scratched the surface of this years selections.

So far, my favorites have been Karin Tidbeck's pair, "Sing" and "Listen" and Theodora Goss' "Come See the Living Dryad." Jonathan L. Howard's Johannes Cabal stories have made me want to read Howard's novels.

I've been away a bit, doing my summer reads, which all have to be light and/or fluffy. After two months, I think I might need just a little meat on my reads so Hello tor.com nice to see you again.

48 read and 48 left to go. I am a little behind, but completing this challenge is still totally "doable."

I had a great time reading all these shorter stories. I read the Hugo nominations and handful of others. The best were "That game we played during the war", "The dream-quest of Vellitt Boe", and "Every heart a doorway".
