Hello and welcome to any who join.

I'm a fan of randomness.

This new challenge is easy. Just pick any book you find on the Today's Random Reads on the main page of this site.

I will start with two.

A Red Heart of Memories - Nina Kiriki Hoffman
This was on the list today, 7/3/16

The Shadow of the Torturer - Gene Wolfe
This was on the list just a few days ago.

Good luck, and good reading!

Can we add as many books from a days random read or is it just one per random read?

Cool. I also love the randomness of not knowing what I will be reading for this challenge. Hopefully it will throw up some things I wouldn't otherwise have read. At the very least it has reminded me that I haven't yet read Dinner at Deviant's Palace, and I really wanted to.

I almost hate to admit it but the way I've been choosing books lately is to pick a list or awards from the front page at random.

Then pick a year at random, then the book.

I'm so weird....

First book completed. Bios by Robert Charles Wilson. I have always liked Wilson's books, so was pleased to see one I hadn't read pop up in the random reads. Reminded me that I had the book and meant to read it, but had forgotten about it. Not one of his best books in the end, but I'm still glad to have been able to read it.

Just finished my second one, A Red Heart of Memories by Nina Kiriki Hoffman. It was on the list on 7/3/16.
Normally I would never have chosen this to read, but I am glad that I did.
Good read with a unique view of magic.

Off of today's list I have picked Schismatrix by Bruce Stirling.
It is not listed on the Delaware public library website, so if I can't get it somewhere I may have to drop it and pick a different one.

Since I can't get Schismatrix at the library and I don't feel like ordering it online, I'm taking it off of my list.

I'm replacing it with The Last Stormlord by Glenda Larke, which is on today's Random list.

Next book read - Chasm City by Alastair Reynolds. I really enjoyed this one, even more than Revelation Space. Glad this one popped up for me to read.

Ha! Today's Random Reads (aka TRR) panel has The Sword of the Lictor by Gene Wolfe.

This is book 3 of The Book of the New Sun, which book 1, The Shadow of the Torturer, was on TRR a few weeks ago.
It is actually sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read.

Don'cha just love randomness!

3rd book completed. The Last Stormlord by Glenda Larke, which was on the list 7/11/16.

Decades ago, I heard (from one of my teachers?) that you could skip the first 50 pages of any novel and not miss much.
This book was about 674 pages, I could have done without the first 100.
But then it got pretty good. In fact I think I'll have to read the next one in the series.
If only it would pop up on the TRR list.....

My third read for this challenge was The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. It wasn't very far up Mount TBR. To tell the truth, it was somewhere near the bottom, YA not being a favourite of mine. It wasn't bad, but it hasn't changed my mind about YA.

4th book completed. The Sword of the Lictor by Gene Wolfe.

I don't think any author has caused me to look up as many words as he does in just one book. Turns out, he makes up some of them.
And, Terminus Est is probably the best name for a sword as I have ever read.

Alif the Unseen, from today's TRR list will be my next read. From the synopsis it looks to be right up my alley.

My next random read was Day Boy by Trent Jamieson. I was pleased to see this one pop up on the random reads as I was curious about it. I've read Jamieson before and thought he had potential. When this one won the Aurealis award I really wanted to read it. I think Jamieson definitely comes into his own with this book. He is going onto my list of authors to look out for.

5th book completed. Alif the Unseen by G. Willow Wilson.
It wasn't quite what I expected, but it was good.

The Ritual by Adam Nevill will be my next one for the challenge. It is on today's TRR panel.

Finished Dinner at Deviant's Palace. I'm glad this one popped up on the random reads list as i had forgotten it and it is the only Tim Powers I had left to read. Interesting and weird book, so in that respect, typical Tim Powers. In this one Powers tackles a post-apocalyptic world and the power of cults.

Huh, it seems I have randomly read my way to the finish of the Random Reads. Well that was fun. Found some good stuff I otherwise might not have read, and read some books that were languishing at the bottom of Mount-TBR.

7th book completed. The Ritual by Adam Nevill. It was on the list on 8/5/16.
I really did not like this book. But hey, pick a book at random, you get what you get.

My next Random Read will be Infinity Beach by Jack McDivitt. It was on yesterday's list.
