Location: Seattle, WA		Last year finished strong, with five challenge readers completing the course. Going to relax the rules a little this year - read 12 books (new authors, or at least new to their Young Adult works) and write 6 reviews.

Great to see this one back again this year!  There are more a than a few folks waiting for it to pop back up that will be very happy.  You can add the Winston Science Fiction Series to your list of resources for YA books.  It's a great list for old school juvenile book fans.

Location: UK		Hey,it may be a ''puff'' for Baen Books itself,but they have a really fun list of their publications that they would approve for young people. All the Heinlein juveniles are there,masses of Eric Flint,David Weber etc,and many others not perhaps on the higher literary plane,but Baen books are great fun. Check out - baen.com/ya_list.asp

Please consider adding Red Rising and Golden Son by Pierce Brown to the list. I read the first last year and am currently reading the second. They won't work for me for this challenge, but other folks may like them and I'll write a review.

Thanks so much! I'll try and post a review in the next week or so. These are books that really need to be read in sequence, so if you do read one, start with Red Rising.

Too many books on the list.. Never had that trouble...

Location: Middle TN, USA		I don't know about everyone else, but since I did this challenge last year, my ability to dip into the Locus YA awards has been shallow this year. It seems the same authors get nominated/win each year. I've been forced to slip over to David Brin's list to fill in my YA challenge out. Thom you are an avid YA reader, how are you handling this situation?

Brin's list did open up a whole new list or options for me, and I am using that to fill in my slots.

Location: SC, USA		Badseedgirl, I think I know what you mean, but I also seems like you think that you can ONLY add from the awards or lists. I don't read the challenge that way at all. I read it as any new to you author.
I didn't join this challenge this year because there's not that many new to me YA authors that I want to read. I have several YA book I want to read this year but they are almost all from authors that I have already read. I might be able to do the 3 author one this year.

Location: UK		Thanks Dave for this new list! Lots of new intriguing titles here,I can see me mining it for several years of this challenge. Yes,I do expect it to last several years at least. There is some wonderful stuff for YAreaders these days,excellent tales with interesting characters,exciting plots - and none of the explicit sex,violence,orstrong language that are tediously prevalent in so much adult stuff.

9 of 15 participants fulfilled their challenge this year, and we collectively generated 60 reviews for the site. Over the course of the year, WWE doubled the number of young adult lists, adding the Winston and Andre Norton lists. It truly was a good year for Young Adult fiction!

Having hosted for two years, I will be stepping down as the host of this particular challenge. I wish you all luck in the new year with whatever you read.
