Biography
Born in Vienna in 1937, Kurt von Trojan has had a chequered career as cinema projectionist, mental hospital attendant, advertising copywriter, and journalist. He has worked in Austria, Britain, Germany, and Australia.
Taught to believe in Hitler in his first years at school, he still remembers vividly the day when they took down the pictures and cut pages out of our schoolbooks or pasted them over: "what they had hammered into our heads until only yesterday was today monstrous and wrong." This left him with a healthy scepticism of ideologies and institutions.
von Trojan came to Australia in the late forties with his mother and younger brother.
